Welcome to VivaScoop, your monthly rundown on everything Vivacity Technologies.
The colder months are upon us and for those of you engaged with Elf on the Shelf, the nightly shuffle has begun! It's a wonderful time of the year, as everyone starts to look forward to the holiday break and think about all the possibilities for 2025. In the lead up to this, the VivaTeam have been full steam ahead undertaking some great work with our amazing clients including the City of Kelowna, City of Kamloops, City of Castlegar and Simpcw Resources Group.
To learn more about our activities over the last month, herewith VivaScoop November.
VivaCitadel Launched with the City of Kelowna
Over the last year, the VivaTeam has been hard at work with the City of Kelowna developing the first use case of VivaCitadel, the Property Information Request. We are thrilled to say that we are now in the process of conducting our user testing with a group of realtors in Kelowna! This is a time for the team to see how real users interact with the platform from the beginning to the end of the process, and how the Kelowna team navigate the system to respond to requests. During this period, the team have been working hard to maintain a smooth rollout with our test group, and handle any challenges that arise to ensure the platform is ready for broader public use.
Over the coming weeks, we expect to transition from a limited user group to a public launch of the platform as the primary way property information requests are processed at the City of Kelowna! Having our first use case live in production is a massive accomplishment for the team, and we are so excited to see how VivaCitadel will impact the lives of citizens and staff alike!
Representing Vivacity on CFJC’s Midday News Program
After Vivacity was lucky enough to win Emerging Business of the Year and Business of the Year at the 38th Annual Business Excellence Awards, Vivacity was invited to join Brian Jones from the Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce to appear on CFJC’s Midday news show. I had the opportunity to share a bit about Vivacity and the work we do as well as how much it meant to the VivaTeam to receive such amazing recognition for all of our hard work.
Having the opportunity to use the CFJC platform to show our gratitude has been fantastic, and we are very grateful to the Chamber of Commerce team and the folks over at Midday for giving us a chance to spread the word about Vivacity and our amazing team.

Hosting VivaCitadel Design Partners Session #3
This month, we had the pleasure of hosting the third session of our Design Partner Program for VivaCitadel. We were joined by four of our six partners, including the City of Kamloops, City of Kelowna, City of Vernon, and District of Sechelt.
Session 3 focused on some of the learnings, challenges, and wins from our user testing with the City of Kelowna. In addition, our partners were eager to share some of the challenges they’ve faced rolling out new technology solutions or processes, and some of the techniques they’ve learned to implement through their experience. For us, a very important piece of this program is encouraging and providing an avenue for knowledge sharing among municipalities, so seeing how open and eager our partners are to share their knowledge and experience with each other is a very fulfilling moment.
As we round out the end of the year, we continue to push VivaCitadel and our deployment with the City of Kelowna forward. We can’t wait to share our progress with all of our partners in the new year at session 4!
Co-op Highlight: Kobe Shimoyama
Kobe Shimoyama, our computing science co-op student from TRU, has been with Vivacity for 6 months now! In that time, we’ve had the pleasure of seeing Kobe grow and gain confidence in his roles. He has undertaken a number of projects in that time from supporting the City of Kelowna Facilities Technology Assessment and redesigning both our logo and our website for VivaCitadel, and we can attest that his work has been hugely impactful to the organization.
We asked Kobe to write another blog on his experience with his co-op term and extension, and to highlight something that he found impactful for his learning. Kobe took the opportunity to highlight some work he has been doing under his personal development plan shadowing our software engineer, Jackie Gorman, to gain some practical experience and insights into the day-to-day of development.
You can read more about his journey here!
