Welcome to Viva Scoop, your monthly overview of everything Vivacity Technologies.
It’s late in the year to wish everyone a happy New Year, but for those of you who we haven’t spoken to yet I hope you have a wonderful 2024.
The year is off to a flying start for Vivacity, as we continue to expand the team, finalize several IT Assessments, attend and present at the awesome TRU Privacy and Security Conference, and navigate through Session #2 of the Creative Destruction Lab accelerator program. It’s full steam ahead and the team are doing incredible work, so hats off to the spectacular VivaTeam.
We have plenty on the go, which we're delighted to update you on. So herewith VivaScoop January 2024!
Welcome to the VivaTeam Dr. Premie Naicker
At the beginning of January, the VivaTeam was honoured to welcome our new Director of People and Projects, Dr. Premie Naicker! Premie is an exceptionally skilled and motivated leader with a passion for diversity and inclusion, and facilitating a healthy workplace. She comes to Vivacity with an extensive background in information technology, sales, and business development, as well as a background in academia. Premie’s held numerous Director and C-suite positions leading IT and Business Development roles in the technology space in South Africa, and EMEA. Premie also has a passion for mentoring/coaching and building strong relationships with clients.
In her four weeks with Vivacity so far, Premie has made an enormous impact in driving forward our sales strategy and establishing herself as a strong and motivational leader within the company. She is not afraid to think outside of the box and take on new approaches and mindsets to meet the needs of our team and our clients. We are so excited to see what Premie will achieve, and we hope you’ll join us in welcoming her with open arms!
Creative Destruction Lab - Round 2 Ding Ding!!
For those of you who have been following along with our journey with Creative Destruction Lab (CDL), Stefano Stamato and I traveled to Vancouver on January 26th to attend the second session of the CDL compute stream and represent the VivaTeam. At Session #2, the team presented on the progress we have made in our development of VivaCitadel in the 12 weeks since we secured our mentors in Session #1.
The team was proud to showcase our progress under the guidance of our mentors and through the hard work of our dedicated team, managed to secure two pilot projects with the City of Kamloops and City of Kelowna. We came out of this session with a renewed sense of dedication to our goal, a significant level of validation that we are moving in the right direction, and some good life lessons that were learned along the way. We also came out of this session with another strong set of mentors to help us continue making progress. We are continually grateful for the direction, grounding, and support this program and our mentors have provided for us, and look forward to continuing our journey over the coming months.
That's a wrap on the 2024 TRU Privacy and Security Conference
The 8th annual TRU Privacy and Security Conference kicked off on January 23rd. Vivacity Technologies was lucky enough to be able to give a presentation at the conference. We hosted a panel on the role of privacy and security across industries, and we featured four amazing panelists from a range of different industries - Lindsay Sill, Brian Eshpeter, Luke Timms, and Stefano Stamato. We would like to thank our panelists and the attendees for supporting us and engaging with the team, and for the continued interest in Vivacity.
It was such a pleasure for us to chat with everyone who came by our booth and meet more of the people working in, or wanting to get involved in this very important space. We were thrilled by the turn out, and we were so grateful to be able to share a bit more about our products and services.
At our booth, we decided to continue our tradition of making a charity donation in place of purchasing merchandise to give away. We gave everyone who stopped by the chance to vote for one of four charities to receive this year’s donation. We are happy to announce that the votes have been tallied, and the $1,000 donation will be given to the Kamloops Food Bank!
A massive thank you to Top 40 Woodworks and Fulford Certification
IT Assessments are a very significant part of the work we do here at Vivacity Technologies, and it's a service we are proud to provide for our clients. Most recently, we completed an IT Assessment for Top 40 Woodworks and a Cyber Security Assessment for Fulford Certification. Both clients were an absolute pleasure to work with, and they came out of their respective assessments with a clear set of initiatives and a roadmap for their completion to help strengthen their IT postures. They’re both hard at work strengthening their environments and making sure they are prepared to meet IT and cyber security’s increasing importance as their organizations grow.
Both projects were completed under the Canada Digital Adoption Plan which helps small and mid-sized businesses fund projects to improve their IT foundation. If you think your organization could benefit from a neutral third party IT Assessment, you can reach out at info@vvctec.com. As your trusted technology partner, we’re always happy to help.
