Last year at the MISA BC 2022 Fall Conference, we heard about the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) program for the first time. We were intrigued by the idea, but didn’t know too much about it at the time. In the last few months, we were invited to apply and as such started looking into the program to learn more. The more we read the more excited we became about the possibilities it could hold. At the beginning of August, we made the decision to apply to the CDL as part of their 2023/24 cohort, and we are so glad that we did. Today, we are thrilled to announce that Vivacity has been accepted as a participant in the CDL program!
For those of you who may not have heard about the CDL, it is a non-profit organization that works with seed-stage, massively scalable science and technology companies in five countries around the world. At thirteen global sites, they offer a nine-month program to science and technology companies that connects them with experienced entrepreneurs and mentors to help move innovations “from the lab into the economy”. Since its founding in 2012, the CDL has helped entrepreneurs around the globe create $29 billion CAD in equity value. In its 12 years of operation, the CDL has worked with over 6,000 founders representing more than 2,300 companies. The mission of the CDL is to enhance the commercialization of science for the betterment of humankind.
“CDL pursues its mission by helping start-up founders prioritize tasks to most efficiently and effectively derisk their business and maximize their probability of success.”
Access to this mentorship program gives businesses a significant boost in bringing their innovations to market by providing access to knowledgeable mentors, funding opportunities, and advice on technology roadmaps, as well as offering support for business development from business students studying at institutions housing the CDL. These invaluable resources try to help bridge the gap to bring these new innovations to market and increase the chances of success for new ventures.
Thanks to the hard work of the VivaTeam, Vivacity Technologies has been accepted into this rigorous program. We have no doubt that our involvement in this program will help advance our city-focused product, VivaCitadel, so we can take the next step in helping municipalities shift from smart to intelligent. Follow along with us as we work our way through this incredible program!
